How do you keep track of ideas?

So I'm wondering, how do people keep track of their ideas?

For example, I'll be working on something when a random thought will cross my mind (like an interface concept, for example). The problem is, what do I do with it? If I write it down in my Moleskine, I'll almost certainly forget that it's there in a few minutes. And if I don't write it down at all, I -know- I'll forget about it.

Some ideas that I went through;
  • I thought about using Toodledo for it. I decided against it, because there's searchability but the UI doesn't lend itself well to organizing concepts.
  • My personal Wiki. Takes forever to log into it on my iPhone.
  • Create my own Rails application? Takes time, but it's always a fun endeavour.
  • Use a gMail account and email all my ideas to it? Not a bad idea... it's certainly searchable. But I'm not confident that it'd be easy to browse the ideas.
So, what I guess I want is the following;
  • Easy to Search
  • Easy to Browse
  • Tagging
  • Able to retrieve ideas under a subject area easily.
  • Able to submit ideas easily and quickly from both a computer and an iPhone / Blackberry.

Provider Site Suckage

I feel like teaching a web design class at some college, and putting the Rogers.com site up. I'd spend the entire semester out going to various pages, pointing at various things saying "Don't do that."

Cool

I love technology. Right now, I'm on the train waiting to leave. I'm using the internet on the laptop. I access the internet through my iPhone's tethering via bluetooth. No cables, no fuss. A far cry from connecting to the university's dial-up servers using a US Robotic modem.

God, I even remember when 56K was new.

The News Sucks

TV News, that is. How the hell does anyone ever learn anything between the too brief mentions of world events, and the latest observation that it's cold out?

Heh...

 Philip is spending his time in Fable 2 turning all the straight guys gay.

News!

A 23 year was smoking marijuana? Shocking.

This is why people don't watch the news, it's filled with useless inanity like this, or blinding flashes of the obvious.

Wait, the homeless are suffering because it's really cold? Wow! I'm sure glad I saw this on the news, it's so much more insightful than an in-depth analysis of whatever is happening in Gaza!

*sigh*

Here's something from one of my contacts on Facebook;
Cute Brunette is God Is Spirit, And His Worshipers Must Whorship In Spiritr And In Truth John 4:24.

Leaving aside the fact that it's meaningless tripe, she really needs to check her spelling. It almost seems like she's saying that Christians should be whores. Of course, this is the same woman who claimed to be 'Sexxxy Blonde' when her profile picture was of a dumpy brunette. But still.

Hmm, it's not ferocious enough.

The Kublai series tower chassis are made for computer enthusiasts who require a ferocious and swift system performance...
Yay! Ferocious performance! There's nothing that makes a computer faster than a computer case!

Everyone should have paused to breath a sigh of relief.

Grungic

Between my many trips to the washroom, I decided to immortalize my hatred of the one Wendy's.

Behold, Anathema!

Let's not have another one, okay?

Goals! Slippier than a Z-list stripper covered in PAM.

I have none. I've never sat down for any length of period and thought to myself what do I really want to accomplish this month/year/life. Almost everything I've ever done, has always been a reflexive action to my current circumstance;
  1. What should I do after high school? ... Well, of course I should apply for something computerish at the University of Waterloo.
  2. I didn't get accepted, what should I do? Well, of course I should apply for something at college.
  3. I don't have a boyfriend, should I put up with J? Well, I guess so...
  4. I skipped all my college classes, what should I do? Well, of course I should get a job.
  5. I'm working at a fast food join, what should I do? Well, of course I should try for something better... then I'd have more money.
  6. I'm working at a call centre, should I try to get into a project? Well, of course... It's not as boring.
  7. My project is about to close, should I try to get into a national position? Well, of course...
So now that I'm at the point that my current goals aren't prescribed by my situation, I was gradually becoming aware of the fact that I really need to create my own goals. However, it really took one of my friends to essentially say "What the hell, dude? It seems like you have no goals, you're just hovering." to really make me fully aware of the issue.

Hopefully, I'll have some soon.

Change Fail

So, my Member of Parliament decided to put up a site to explore whether or not she has the ability to compete for the Liberal Party Leadership. Apparently she thinks that her total lack of name recognition outside of Brampton is a good thing. After all, it worked for Obama, right?

Note to Ruby: You're not Obama.

Anyway, it looks like she looked at what Obama did with his grassroots fundraising, and came away with three ideas;

  • Money is useful.
  • Something about grassroots.
  • Ruby needs $90,000 to enter the leadership race.

Add some filler comments about hope, change (I wonder where we've heard that before), and out comes the vaguest political platform since Paul Martin's naked grab for power. Maybe she thinks that if she waves the words 'change', 'hope' and 'you' in our face enough, people will think it's sincere. Much like John McCain's attempt to claim the change mantra.

Note to Ruby: You're also not McCain.
On a related note, what's with all the radio buttons? Is it that hard for people to type in a number? Like they do everywhere else on the intertubes?
